About a year ago, one of our founders who already had a growing business, got pulled up by his first major customer.

After months of sales, pre-sales, and contract negotiations with a massive multinational, the potential customers' Cyber Security Team got involved, and it all took a marked turn for the worst.

Now, we know our business; with about 100 years of combined experience in sophisticated software development for pretty much every industry vertical you can think of and major consultancy exercises, he was laid low by not having a good answer to the request for ISO 27001.

To make matters worse, the amount of information on the web, whilst huge, didn’t answer the questions.

"How do I assure my customer we’re secure?"

"How do I get ISO 27001?"

It seems like every offering out there was for extortionate consulting time or a hideously expensive web solution that required deep domain knowledge (so still, consulting time).  The amount of labour involved to write Policies and Procedures to satisfy the almost 100 controls of 27001, perform risk analysis of the company and more was immense.  The so-called web "solutions" didn't alleviate any of this, instead expecting you to come prepared with everything ready (some solution, right?)

Combining consulting costs and his time, this was going to cost in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.  So, what does a programmer do when faced with an impossible amount of paperwork about topics he doesn’t fully understand?  He pulls in some of the best minds in the business and his trusted allies, of course!  Having worked with some great people in the past, he knew exactly who to contact.
